Maternity Services

Gore Hospital has a modern, comfortable Maternity Unit with a birthing room, lounge and two twin bedrooms with ensuites.

The maternity unit offers labour and delivery services, postnatal care within the hospital, and support with breastfeeding.

We have attained Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative accreditation which actively promotes and supports exclusive breastfeeding from birth. For more information on the BFHI initiative click here

Independent Midwives operate within the unit and are supported by our Facility Midwives and team of registered and enrolled nurses. These midwives work closely with specialists at Southland Hospital to ensure the best care for mother and baby.

Independent Midwives who work in our community offer care from pre-conception through pregnancy and postnatal care. Details below:
