Dr Elias comes from a long line of medical professionals, starting with both sets of his grandparents, who were WWII army medics.
His hometown is Ōtepoti, Dunedin, home of the Highlanders - and Speights - where moved when he came to New Zealand from India with his family 25 years ago.
He has a wee dog called Cooper and together they go on endless walks and play games.
He loves to tuck into a very spicy chickpea and spinach curry with coconut milk and rice.
